LABS’ participants encompass a group of global brands and retailers convened by LABS Initiative, who engage with local stakeholders (e.g., industry associations, members of CSOs, governments, and institutes) to formulate enhanced safety policies and provisions.
Factories and workers are a key partner in our efforts to improve working conditions in ways that also support businesses.
Inspection Firms (IFs) conduct on-site assessments at factories to identify potential safety risks concerning structural, fire, and electrical safety systems. IFs analyze assessment findings and recommend actions to guide factories in systematic remediation of identified issues as per LABS Methodology and Standards.
Safety Training Firms and supporting Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Committees provide comprehensive safety training to factory employees to build their skills on risk identification, evacuation protocols, and awareness of structural, electrical, and fire-safety hazards.
Quality Assurance (QA) Firms conduct re-assessments at 10% of factories initially assessed to ensure overall quality and consistency of the assessments and reporting by the Inspection Firms.
Remediation Firms are independent engineering firms engaged and contracted directly by factories to provide support with the corrective action plan (CAP) generated after the assessments conducted by Inspection Firms.
We actively engage with key organizations in operational countries, including local and national government agencies, industry associations, international institutions, and CSOs to advance safety policies within the industry and embed long-term local and national ownership.
