LABS Initiative provides a transparent platform for assessments, a framework for remediation, supported by safety training and a worker helpline. The program engages with key stakeholders to create in-country capacity and long-term local ownership to ensure safer workplaces, thus ensuring better working conditions for the workers in the factories. To accomplish this, LABS works with other businesses, suppliers, governments, local and international institutions, and members of CSOs.
LABS collaborates with the governments in operational countries to refine and integrate LABS Standards into national building standards. The LABS team holds events and knowledge-sharing sessions with the government, Better Work, Better Factories programs of ILO, and industry bodies to share best practices and insights.
While LABS focuses on the corporate responsibility to foster safety and respect for human rights, it in no way reduces the duty of governments and related enforcement agencies to ensure their citizens work in safe places. It engages with local and national governments to integrate best practices into policies.
Factories that are a part of LABS Initiative, have steadily improved the overall safety parameters aligned to LABS Standards, leading to improved working conditions, enhanced productivity, improved reputation and increased customer visibility.
