In the first half of 2023, LABS reached a major milestone by launching the program in Indonesia. In addition, we continued to strengthen the delivery and operations of LABS, along with the associated firms. We conducted National Stakeholder Committee meetings in India and Vietnam, where important aspects of post-graduation monitoring and national-level outreach of the program were discussed.
LABS also hosted the first session of Platform for Safety in Apparel and Footwear Industry (PSAFI) in India in April 2023, to provide a trusted, neutral space for the different actors to discuss and exchange ideas and insights on addressing safety issues in India’s apparel and footwear industry.

During the first quarter of 2023, we set the pace to strengthen the program and its reach. Globally, we completed over 600 safety trainings and 400 assessments. As an important milestone, LABS will expand into Indonesia this year and the groundwork for the launch is progressing steadily.
The LABS Standards & Methodology was revised in India to include the home textiles industry, thus providing access to additional factories. In March 2023, Good Practice sessions were conducted in India, Vietnam, and Cambodia for factories and other stakeholders. There were over 400 participants in these sessions with representatives from factories, brands, textile associations, and the respective government representatives.
LABS is also launching a chat platform to strengthen outreach to workers and provide an agency to report incidents.

The final quarter of 2022 saw many activities and events which enabled the team to close the year on a high note. India and Vietnam conducted their second National Stakeholder meetings with fruitful discussions and recommendations from the members to strengthen the program. In Cambodia, we created a platform for Gender Equality in Apparel and Footwear to drive discussions and joint actions on gender equality.

With the COVID-19 situation improving in most regions, LABS is progressing forward with onboarding factories and supporting remediations. The program achieved yet another landmark of onboarding over 350 factories globally. LABS India completed its first Factory Graduation.
Over the quarter, apart from general operations, focus was centered on improving operational excellence and moving towards systems change. We hope you enjoy reading our overview of activities during the third quarter of 2022.
The second quarter of 2022 was fruitful with multiple program achievements. The formal launch in Cambodia marked a key milestone for the program in May, 2022. The factory onboarding activities were initiated in Cambodia, with the initial group of Assessments conducted in June. Also in June, LABS program achieved the landmark of onboarding 300 factories globally.

LABS achieved yet another milestone by onboarding over 250 factories across its countries of operation. We maintain a steady state of operations at factories in India. Due to a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases in Vietnam, LABS processes at factories (e.g., assessments, follow-up visits, safety training, and remediation) diminished in line with the National Government Directives.

In the past quarter, LABS achieved yet another milestone by onboarding over 200 factories in total. We continued maintaining a steady state of operations at factories in Vietnam. In India, however, the huge spike in COVID-19 cases across the nation caused a decrease in various LABS processes at factories in line with State and National Government Directives.
The situation began to improve in mid-June. LABS processes at factories are gradually resuming. We continue progressing with caution in our operations. With new factory nominations incoming this year, we resumed full-scale operations and the cooperation received from Brands and Factories has been commendable.
